Thumbs down Snowball Fight Takes Dark Turn - December 19, 2009, 10:57 PM

http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/1209/689050.html

"WASHINGTON - A lively snowball fight on D.C. streets took a dark turn Saturday when anti-war protesters dressed in anarchist garb showed up, and a D.C. police officer pulled his weapon out of his holster.
The neighborhood snowball fight at 14th and U streets was advertised online. By 3 p.m., more than 200 residents converged for the massive snowball fight.

"No one meant any harm, no one meant anything by -- just having fun, it's highly unfortunate," said Tisha West. "We're Washingtonians and we like to play in the blizzard."

But things started to turn for the worse when the crowd -- some carrying anti-war signs and dressed all in black with masks -- began to pelt passing cars. A plain clothes D.C. police detective emerged from a Hummer -- it's unclear whether it was his personal vehicle or an unmarked police vehicle -- after it was struck. The detective began yelling at the gathered crowd. At one point, he pulled back his jacket, exposing his service weapon -- it's unclear if he did this intentionally. That's when things took a darker turn. "

"FREEEEEEEEEEEEZE!"
leave it to people to f*ck up a good snow storm.

Needle dick. All day long. Two sides to every story doesn't work here either.

The funny thing is 5-6 years ago, there wouldn't have been a white face within 1/4 mile of that section of DC let alone on 14th & U St which is essentially DC's equivalent of Harlem's 125th street.

They learned an important lesson today - don't f*ck with a brother's ride.

And here's video of a snooty kid mouthing off to the Detective, right in his face.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Rhos...layer_embedded

"We don't want you here - we feel unsafe."
"What's your badge number ....

He's lucky he didn't get slapped in the mouth and then had the silver bracelets put on him. I probably would have.

No offense to anyone here, but these snooty white college-kid transplants man.

I really don't think they have a full appreciation for the part of DC they're in. Maybe because there's a Starbucks and a Frozen Yogurt store with nice shiny new half million dollar condos, they think it's something else.

There's already a lot of grumbling about the genderification happening on the U St. corridor. Just watch yourselves out there ...

You know - this sort of brings to mind a person story of mine from my childhood.

When we lived on Long Island, we had these huge Bay style windows on the front of the house. My father has just spent about $7,000 on these Pella joints a few months earlier. Mind you this is 1980-something so $7G's is like $15-20G's in today's money

A snow storm came overnight and later that afternoon some local teens started pelting the windows. THUMP THUMP THUMPPPP.... by the time the third thump hit, my father flew off the couch and into the closet.

Out came the pump shotgun. He damn near broke the front door off the hinges he opened it so fast - he pumped it once and screamed "If another of you motherfuckers throws a snowball - I swear someone is not making it to New Years!"

One kid was mid-throw while my father was holding the shotgun and checked up on the throw so hard, his follow-thru pulled him off his feet and face first into the snow.

Let me tell you - I've never seen kids run so fast in the snow. Usain Bolt would have been impressed.

Of course the cops came about an hour later to investigate.

My father owned up to it. He showed them the shotgun, told them it was unloaded and that he just dropped $7 grand on windows.
I thought for sure he was headed to jail. Black family, white neighborhood, black man point gun white kids. Oh yeah, off to Yapank or Riverhead for your ass, Dad.

Well, the cops looked at each other, shrugged, and said, "I probably would have done the same thing ... Have a good holiday."

Slow your roll, Loose. Nothing racist about my comments. I'm just stating fact - it is what it is, no matter how ugly the truth of the matter is.

Frankly, I could care less. I'm cool with everyone (so long as you're cool as the other side of the bed, too).

But some of the transplants really don't respect the locals or the history of U St. at all.

You need to be aware of your surroundings.
....

More importantly, you need NOT to be a snotty brat chucking snowballs at peoples cars (these people all looked to be well into their 20's so it's not like they're a bunch of kids.)

Guys gets snow (and probably ice balls in the mix) thrown at his car - he gets out, and as he said, they chucked a few at him. Now you've just assaulted an officer.

But you see, they didn't know he was a Cop. It was all fun and games until the gun and badge came out. The it was all about - "Hey, we're just having some fun ... we're just having a snowball fight.."

Ask yourself this, Loose - what if they guy was in a marked unit and in uniform and they did the same thing? Would you feel any different?

Long reply, short -
Some people need to learn that just because you are playing games does not mean everyone else is.

I think they learned a valuable lesson today.
