Some people... sheesh, I tell ya - September 17, 2009, 04:59 PM

Had some business over at the Radiobiology Research Institute at Navy Med in Bethesday this afternoon. Left there around 4:30, the exit onto 355 northbound is backed up worse than John Candy on an all-cheese diet. I'm on the KTM, I'm idling, I'm idling, move a car length, idling,... watching for the Temp light to go on, idling, see red emerge at the Temp light, shut it off, roll onto the sidewalk, start walking the bike toward 355.

I continue walking the bike down 355 to where I see a freaking minivan stalled w/ hazards on, blocking the right-most lane. I roll up, put the bike on the stand, walk over to ask the lady if I could help her ROLL THE VAN ON DOWN THE HILL and into a driveway so that the 5 O'clock traffic she is confounding can roll a little bit easier. She says she ran out of gas but emergency roadside service is coming.

I said, "Well you know, it's all down hill, and I can push to get you started. We can take it real slow."

She replied with that look, "Uuuuhhh, nawh I'd rather just wait."

So I said fairly bluntly, "Do you realize how much traffic is backed up behind you because this lane your in is blocked? I'm walking that bike right over there on the sidewalk because it overheated while waiting to get onto the road you are partially blocking."

She just sort of half smiled and apologized. After all, it's 5 pm on a weekday evening in Bethesda, Maryland, and she ran out of gas in her minivan.

Maybe she felt intimidated by you. Whenever i'm confronted by someone i dont know in just about any situation i typically just push back to push back. Some guy offered me a coupon for 2$ off a meal at Boston Market and i said "no" just because i wasn't expecting it. He was like you "you sure? 2$ off!" and i just reiterated no.. No particular reason. Maybe i'm socially inept.

In that situation, i might be thinking in the back of my mind "what if road side service misses me since i'm pulled off somewhere."

Just playing devils advocate.

People don't consider anyone other than themselves nowadays. I wish an LEO could have ticketed her for blocking traffic (since stupidity isn't a crime in itself).

That's just not right. Kicking that poor girl in the ass while trying to brighten others days by showing her tatas.

Yeah, that's a classic. The woman deserved that swift kick. She's got her teezatties hanging out and is pissing through her cutoffs. No social graces.

You know, now that I think about it... I had my helmet on, I was wearing my Aerostich Roadcrafter jacket, black boots, and I was pushing a black dirtbike that is 5 feet tall down the sidewalk. Everyone knows that if the Texas Chainsaw Massacre road a bike, he'd wear Roadcrafter.
