I got this from a friend at work:

If you go to this web site,www.LetsSayThanks.com

You can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print It and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving In Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to Some member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone We know to send one!!! This is a great site. Please send a card. It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Love this idea. Good on Xerox.

I passed a guy in the airport last night who couldn't have been more than 21. He was walking with a cane on two prosthetic legs wearing a 187th Inf shirt. As I passed by, I said "Thanks for your service brother." to which he turned, smiled, and responded with "Thank you." I just drawled "Hooah" like I did back in the day and moved on.

It was funny that despite the injuries the posture was still straight and the eyes still burned with fire. Some say that our military is but a shadow of the men who came before. I say that the Infantryman is still as strong as ever made stronger by the men who laid the foundation and built the history.

Spent 2 hours on a plane with a Marine the other day - wished him/them a happy birthday. He seemed happy to be able to chat..19 and a Marine engineer 2 months in I and got an emergency medical recall for his 7 month pregnant wife...rough. Kid had a lot going on, including his flight from base to Kuwait, Germany, Dc, Atlanta and then Raleigh - all as one trip. We avoided the obvious topics, I'm sure he had had enough of those and ended up talking about Assasin's Creed, Wii level rankings, MotoGp and how you build a control tower on an emergency airfield...When we landed I handed him my phone and told him to call his wife, thanked him and wished him the best.

Aside - told him i hoped all would turn out well and what would he be taking back for his buddies in his C bag? he replied : I'm packing it full of Mountain Dew - it just doesn't taste the same over there - and a copy of Zelda for the Wii ..... 19 to the bone..

props to Xerox

i remember getting boxes of cards while on various deployments and getting to pass them out, when people would get them they would get more emotional than when they received letters from home. got one while in Iraq from a 5th grade class at Oakton Elementary where i went to school. when i got back i contacted the school and the teacher let me come in and talk about things over there. it was weird because the class was in the same room that i was in way back when, and while i was there the first Gulf war was going on and i remember sending care packages to soldiers then. trippy, but cool as hell.
