Spambot reunites lost rider with community... - April 15, 2008, 08:02 AM

"Patricia" the spambot somehow managed to get my email to alert me that she is Buddhist and that I should probably visit her website... do tell.

I've been away from here for about a year and a half, so here is the short history:
  • Accident - left hand turned by some idiot in a conversion van, nearly took my life. Surgery on both knees. Won maxiumum settlement without a lawyer... if anyone has questions, PM me, I have a couple of good documents. Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer and cannot give legal advice, but I can answer questions and will do so for free to prevent someone else from going thru what I did. (If I don't get back to you, its because I'm lazy, and has nothing to do with you as a person.)
  • 1 year of recovery and therapy.
  • Got engaged. Promised not to ride until after wedding.
  • Got married on 07/07/07.
  • Rode track-only for the remainder of 2007 (NESBA #777 - The slow 2001 Duc 748 in B-group at Summit and Beaver Run for those interested in hangin out in the pits).
  • Bought a couple more motorcycles from "Winter fever": 2006 Daytona 675, and 2008 Ducati 848
  • Went to New Zealand... it's summer there!
  • Sold the Daytona to recover from New Zealand.
  • Patricia the Buddhist sends me a PM and I post this.
I don't believe any of you actually fell for the words "short story" if you are still reading this. Hope your lives have been going well, and all praise Buddha... this Patricia chick may be on to something...

See you people at TWT tonight hopefully!

Daniel

Oddly enough there is a monetary equivalent for "1 year of pain and suffering, plus future discomfort and health issues as a result of negligence"... those bastards have a formula... its quite disturbing.

For me the single swing-arm is like cocaine... They got me with the 916. The Daytona was going to be my new track bike, but after the 848 came out, I started to get the single-swing arm shakes, not to mention that insurance on Ducs seems to be half the price of other bikes. I pay $800/year for 2 Ducs and the Triumph alone was $1600, so it had to go... <rant>I may have a history of speeding, but thats in a CAR! I'm talking to you GEICO!</rant>

Are you sure? Cuz if you are wearing the pants then you wouldn't be the one two upping in that pic we all see on the board from time to time......

I am currently only riding the White 848 around as I perform some cosmetic upgrades to the 748 which took a 60mph lowside on the carousel at Beaver Run last year.

As for the insurance the explanation I got was.... wait for it... number of cylinders! Apparently those crafty insurance guys seem to think that people on 4 cylinder motorcycles are more expensive to them than those with less (4-cyl = mostly japanese superbikes, 2-cyl = mostly harleys) Its not really the cost of the motorcycle to them, because compared to most cars, bikes don't cost much and generally wont damage another vehicle when in an at-fault accident with a car. So they punish the segment that costs them the most money, aka us sportbike riders. Fortunately for me Ducatis being twins I get grouped with the harley folks, who I guess don't cost the insurance company as much in totalled motorcycles.

On/Off Topic... Venom and Carnage are both wearing "the pants"... the same tight leotards found at the ballet
