Springfield XD-S Owners: Recall - August 29, 2013, 04:33 PM

I know there's lots of guys who were interested in this gun, and several owners.

Posting a new thread because it's a safety concern, and it's often a while in between me checking in to the gun thread, so i figure that's the same for others.

Springfield XD-S (9mm and .45acp models) within a certain serial number range are having a voluntary safety recall. Supposedly the issue is rare, but they're recalling a ton anyway.

To check , go to Springfield Armory and click the bottom right where it says "XD-S recall"

Or the direct link: Springfield Armory ReCall Registration

Enter your serial number, and if your pistol is one of them, they'll take your info and generate a mailing label for you.

If you all are like me, and made this your carry gun, you'll want to do this ASAP.

This Safety Recall applies only to:
Springfield 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm pistols – serial numbers between XS900000 and XS938700
Springfield 3.3 XD-S™ .45ACP pistols – serial numbers between XS500000 and XS686300.

This Safety Recall does not apply to any XD® or XD(M)® pistols.

It sounds like there hasn't been any injuries yet. Probably something they found during testing or something

I have experienced a Springfield return before... My finish was defective on my first XD right after Springfield bought the design from HS. They fixed it and set me a free mag and some other goodies . Hoping to get some schwag

"unintended discharge during the loading process when the slide is released, or could experience a double-fire when the trigger is pulled once."

Oy vey. That's a nasty potential defect.

Yep.

I imagine that's why they're recalling fuckin everything. I bought mine almost as soon as the very first ones came out, and it's covered.
