Superman Reborn Photos Finally Released - October 29, 2010, 08:45 PM

If any of you remember, before Superman Returns was greenlighted - back in the 90's Superman Reborn starring Nicolas Cage was in pre-production, then the whole thing was cancelled by the studio with no reason given by DC or the studio.

Now I understand why. It would have been a goddamn crap fest!

Listen the absolutely cocaine and Hollywood executive producer delusion fueled story behind it from Kevin Smith, below.

The Cannon would have been along this time line when DC tried to reimage Superman.

Quote:
In the late 1990's, Warner Bros. began development on a project called Superman Lives. The film would have been directed by Tim Burton with a script from Kevin Smith and Nicolas Cage was even signed on to play the lead. Stories about the project and its ultimate cancellation are infamous, but official images from the pre-production have mostly been kept under lock and key.

Today, Visual Effects artist Steve Johnson finally reveals, after more than a decade, behind the scenes test photos of what would have been Superman's costume.

This is disappointing. I was really hoping they would keep this REALISTIC.

This high tech crap is BS. I mean, Who doesn't love a guy flying around in spandex ?

This is an insult to the true character of Superman. He should just fly around the earth real fast and reverse time so this never happened....

and by 'this' I mean this thread....

Actually, that's the NEW storyline for Superman in the comics.
He doesn't fly. He just walks around. Trying to discover America and get in touch. They got him pulling a fricken Forest Gump.

Quote:
Superman is one of the most recognized super heroes of all time and any day now you might spot him in a town near you. This summer the Man of Steel will not be faster than a speeding bullet but will travel at an almost snail like pace as he walks across America on a 12 issue trek to reconnect with his fans, the people who grew up with him, invited him into their homes, their lives, and their hearts. Superman's journey will begin in Philadelphia next month and he will make his way from coast to coast through Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, and Washington.

Each issue will feature a real city, town, or neighborhood with a unique story about Superman's impact on the lives of his fans there. Anyone who lives 50 miles of the big cities of Chicago, Des Moines, Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle can submit essays of up to 1,000 words explaining why their neighborhood should be included in the new story called "Grounded". It seems that Superman is making a grassroots efforts in reconnecting with the people. In this new approach, DC Comics is trying to incorporate new social media techniques that provides people with instant communication and feedback.

It was pretty horrific -- the guy in that pic of yours would've been on the higher end of the scale.

You know what makes me hate superman? He is not a superhero. He is a comic whore. Any time writers got bored; they decided his powers expanded. He kept getting more, and more invencible. He destroyed a universe by sneezing in the 80's. Hit the center of the sun and with stood '10 supernovas' in the 90's. He killed death, by dying. You know what, SM sucks. No pathos. S U C K S. I never have paid for a SM comic or movie and feel great about it because SM is a writers whore. He is a comic cop out. Worst super hero ever. IMHO.
