Superman Returns - June 28, 2006, 08:05 AM

Two thumbs down!!

I went lastnight (06.27.06) and caught the 1st showing...what a waste of time! The story line is absolutely garbage. The writers changed complete parts of the story and twisted in different events that make no sense if you have ever followed superman. I for one was completely disappointed!!

Save your money!!

Does he fly around the world fast enough to make time go backwards?

Or get controlled by a video game console and then battle the scary robot?

Or kneel before Zod?

If not, then I'm not even bothering to see it.

I saw it last night as well. I would have to disagree.. an homage to the legacy that Christopher Reeves had left.. The theme music the same, the rolling credits in the beginning the same.. Marlon Brando is still featured as Jorel..Clark Kent even sounds like Christopher Reeves a bit.. The overall look wasn't too over-the-top-hollywood like I dreaded.. The storyline did pickup where the last movie left off, a good twist..Kevin Spacey's Lex is a great adversary. I am a Superman fan.. I think they did him Justice. Plain and simple: Superman does save the day.. When I was in elementary school I wasn't so critical of Storylines, etc. It was just a fun movie...gotta remember that ppl. Worth every penny.. I think the embarassments of Superman was the other way around: Richard Pryor's Super computer in III, and who the fuck was Nuclear Man in IV?
GAY!...

don't hate.. this new version blows those movies out of the water.. but don't take my word for it..

I think it's worth seeing. Routh is a great Superman. He definitely fits the Superman image created by Christopher Reeve.

BTW, d12 is right, just like every movie adaptation of a comic book, there are changes to the original story line.

I know, who would have seen that coming?

i havent seen the movie yet, but im a rottentomatoes.com whore and so far it has a 79% rating on there which is pretty good. for those not familiar with the site, anything above 60% gets a "fresh" rating. a lot of the newer movies lately have been ranking in the high teens to low 20's so a 79 will certainly be enough to get me to the theater to see it and give it a shot.

Saw it last night. Liked it. I kept thinking of David Caradine's Superman speech at the end of Kill Bill 2 LOL. Special effects are great. Just have to suspend your belief in physics for a little while. Fun and surprising. Lex Luthor was great and evil.

I loved it. It was a throwback to the original. I don't know what people were expecting. Some big monster villain? Time travel? Lois orgy?

It was a tad long, but I never got bored. I had enough Super-geeks around in the theater to keep me entertained.

This new Superman actor has studied Christopher Reeves' movements and you can tell. His Clark Kent is fantastic!

The actor who played Superman (don't know his name or previous works), he might be stuck in doing Superman roles, like George Reeves.

Stuck or remembered? I think typecasting is bullshit. People need to let go.

Well both, if I am not mistaken, it was very difficult for him to find other roles after the Superman series.
