Which SUV should I buy? - June 15, 2007, 09:36 AM

Just want some peoples opinions on SUV's- cause im looking to buy one in the next 2 months. I want mid-size to large. Not too expensive. Good gas miles a plus (since im going to be moving across country every 3 months or so) but I know SUV and good gas miles really dont fit togather. Thanks guys!!

Nissan Pathfinder. IMO best bang for the buck. V6 gas milage and strong engine. Nice comfort and decent appearance. That is all.

Towing a bike is no big deal. A mini will tow your bike on a small trailer.

Pathfinder or an FJ cruiser...both very capable and actually do well on gas. The FJ will tow 5000lbs easy! Not sure about the pathfinder.

I love the Toyota... great truck
HONDA HONDA HONDA
Pre-owned Pilots are very available, off lease with under 30K miles and are super nice, reliable, and were else can you get 250hp and high 20's mpg

I would reccomend any Toyota or Honda. Toyota has the 4-Runner and the Sequoia. The 4-Runner gets about 18-21 mpg and the Sequoia gets about 15-18. Both of them are semi-low maintenance. Then on the smaller side you have the Highlander. Those get about 20-28 mpg. You pay a little more from the start, but they last forever.

Honda has the Pilot and the CR-V. The Pilot gets about 17-24 mpg. Its also bigger than the CR-V. On par with the 4-Runner. The CR-V gets 22-30 mpg. And the CR-V's size is close to the Highlander.

If it were me buying it, I'd go with Toyota. I see the fewest of those in my shop for repairs. Just my .02 cents.

Toyota... though the FJ might be above your budget so looking at the 4-funner might be the best start.

My Nissan is equiped with a class III and tows anything I want. I have had no issues with it at all except for a battery that split and corroded the wire harness. I think it's a good buy, but then so are the Toyotas.

4Runner and FJ gets my vote...but they drink 93.

For MPG Honda pilot is a good choice.

Jenny, what's your budget? The FJ is badass, but they run mid-20s used. It's basically got the same drive train as my tacoma.

The 4-runner will probably cost you more like $12k, OR you can get a 2wd extended cab tacoma that will pull your bike AND a trailer with no problem.
