Take my bike to Mrytle during NON bike weeks? - August 18, 2013, 12:59 PM

So here is the deal. I'm picking up OTB's new to him Ducati down near Mrytle. So I have to take my trailer anyway, and was thinking of putting one of my bikes on there for the trip down to have a bike to ride in Mrytle. But does Mrytle really have any good riding roads? My original plan was to just chill at the beach, pool, and hot tub anyway. I don't want to bother with the extra hassle (worse MPG, parking, gear, etc) if there isn't any good riding. But would if there was any.

So I guess I could have condensed this post to: Is there any good riding in the Mrytle area.

Then again... That's just me.

I would say, "no", but I've only been down there twice and generally kept it within a 15 mile radius of the beach.
Von, who goes every year, may have the best knowledge of the area and can give you some insight.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

Yes, I have been to Myrtle. Not worth taking a bike down unless it's for bike week would be my guess. I've spent a couple months there over the course of my riding life and never once wished I had my bike with me.

+1

Flat and straight roads with cops looking for a reason to pull you over.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster outside of a bike week.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for the info. I'll be leaving my bike here.
