Cool There goes the neighborhood ..... - January 27, 2008, 04:08 PM

so I was chilling this morning and I noticed out my back window a woman running with a dog and was like - mainly cos she didnt look like my neighbor who usually plays with her dog out back.

So I'm thinking ... new neighbor? Then I notice she's and a Statie.

So I get up and noticed they've apprehended someone. Immediately I thought of SVBadguy and his scanner. Unfortunately I didn't have his number so I just watched to see if there was going to be some Rodney King action

later on ... I noticed this in the Shoutbox:

SVbadguy: GTA, theft from auto, and eluding
SVbadguy: Got some suspects in your hood
SVbadguy: GhostRyder you around
GhostRydr: Travis...did the popo get that eluding car theft suspect?

so that kind of explained what was going on ... and of course, I took some pics:

a little closer, I blurred out the staties faces:

They ended up talking to the suspect for a good 15 mins, then walked him off. Although I'm not usually comfortable when the police are around me on my bike, I am glad to see them in this situation ... especially if dude was a criminal.

looks fine to me. The staties led the suspect completely away from where you parked it.

in both pictures the dog is only seen from behind ...

gotta wonder how you can recognize a dog from its rear-end.

nevermind, I don't want to know...

carry on ... nothing to see here....

Here's the lowdown.

I first learned of this when LCSO was advised to be on the lookup for an SUV.

VSP was involved in a pursuit around 8:00am in Loudoun Co. There was 2-car wreck somewhere on Old Ryan Rd as a result and the silver Toyota SUV being pursued got away.

Three Hispanic males passengers fled the Hyundai that was involved in the wreck. One person still on the scene (or may have been caught of the three) was taken to the hospital and would later be taken to the VSP area office in Leesburg.

Someone reported seeing a suspicious vehicle parked on a sidewalk with a door/doors open on Gleedsville Manor Drive (not far from wreck location). Turned out to be the suspect vehicle.

Then I heard them run a tag and that came back to a green Hyundai, stolen out of Fairfax Co. In the Toyota Highlander they found a Fairfax Co Fire/Rescue bag full of GPS units and such, likely stolen. They contacted the owners of the Toyota in Reston, they said it was missing.

VSP unit 1211 did a bunch of coordinating with LCSO and Leesburg PD because he has a Loudoun Co radio, it's a lot easier than passing info through two dispatchers. He may have been the one pursuing, not sure. Apparently that Toyota was involved with something in Leesburg last night as well. The McDonald's has video of it and they'll have some suspect descriptions.

0955- Berryville and Winchester PDs will be given a heads up for vehicle tampering/theft from auto reports because a likely stolen credit card was found in one vehicle along with receipts from places out west.

1000-They got a lead on possible suspects in the area. Two of them asked someone to use their phone to have their cousin pick them up.

1016-Found another citizen that let them use their phone. They have a phone number. LCSO calls the number and determines a likely meeting location now, want to be picked up at the IHOP. That guy was unable to pick them up but was going to call around to find someone who could. Said the guy that called him goes by "Pollo".

1041- VSP arrested one suspect they found in the area. See pics above.

I don't know what happened after that. I had to go and do some P.I. work.
