Today must be "Go slowly in the left lane" day - August 28, 2014, 09:03 PM

On 66W from Rosslyn today, with traffic not jammed, I swear almost EVERY car in the left lane was going 50-55 MPH, and slightly slower than the cars in the right lane. There was also ample room between cars for slower traffic to keep right. It was like driving in England, or in The Twilight Zone.

Maybe it's a full week? I had that issue last night on Lee Jackson Hwy in Chantilly.

The right lane is the new left lane. Everyone in the DMV should know that by now!

Sucks.

I practice and advocate passing these people and slowing down in front of them. If you are on a slower sportbike I suggest dropping a couple of gears in case they want to floor it out of anger. But the key is to infringe on their rights as they are you. Make SURE you accelerate and wag your finger at them when they try to pass out of frustration on your right as a result of your antics. Persistence pays. Several miles of harassment will surely get it through their thick skulls. Also use the "shew shew" with your free hand as you shew them into the right lane, reminding them of their place. As a community, we can make a difference, it is up to US! We have the power! We have the speed! We have the moral high ground to get em out of the left lane!

It's Friday
It's a holiday weekend
People who live around DC are horrid drivers and should make liberal use of public transportation to save the rest of us from their lunacy.
Be thankful they aren't going 80 because they WILL crash

I saw a woman driving a Austin Martin DB9 this morning on 395....I was like...you have got to be fucking kidding me...as she talked on the phone crossing lanes with no signal and speeding.

This morning I saw a guy behind me on the highway reading a newspaper instead of playing with his phone. Old school!

What kind of neanderthal even reads a newspaper anymore. The printed stuff is at least 6-8 hours old.

Ha, I used to do that shit in my car (when I had a fast car). Some people just love the left lane. I would literally have to slow down to about 25 mph before they would finally consider switching lanes. Then, they would often try to move to the right lane and gun it to get around me, at which point I'd just speed away.

I'd be terrified to do it on a bike tho.

When using these tactics the people that were suffering behind me have often come by and given me a thumbs up and waived. They were living vicariously through me . And I was ok with that. An all time favorite was someone who clogged the left lane. I got in front of them and slowed down till they got the hint. Apparently they must have thought overtaking a ZX-12 would be an easy feat. They tried and tried, I gave it about 3% throttle so we were dead even. They then tried accelerating harder with confused and erratic braking because they were about to miss their left hand exit (church rd on 2. I was thrilled when they missed their exit. They were upset...but I gave them the index finger and wagged.

Others who have been suffering from these types of snails may pretend they didn't appreciate it...much like the soccer mom who tries not to smile when you wheelie on the highway...deep down they like it. They just don't want little tommy in the back seat to be inspired. Which is exactly why you must wheelie for the children.

THINK OF THE CHIIIIIIIIIIILLLLDREN!!!

Same here. Crazy how slow id have to get before the idiot would finally move out of the left lane of a 4 lane highway.

Slow in the left lane? That's pretty much every day around here and most of the time it's caused by the driver too busy with their phone to watch the road. People don't care about anyone else around here so it's easier to just fly around them. Most of the time, they are too involved with their texting/facebook/etc...etc...to notice what is going on.
