Tonights Beers. What did you have? - December 2, 2011, 07:29 PM

Got a grab bag of various beers tonight. Quite a variance, my opinions, take it for what its worth, YMMV....

Dogfishead Immort Ale: OK, maybe not so OK..., only plus is 11% ABV. Heist talked this up a few weeks back. Doesn't fit my taste. Taste is heavy on the woody side. Brewed in Oak barrels, the woody taste is too overpowering. Won't buy this one again.

Troegs Mad Elf: This is my current favorite, great taste, big HP at 11% ABV, a Belgian style ale. I just love Belgian ales! I'll hoard several 6-packs of this seasonal ale to hold me through several months beyond the holidays.

Leffe: A great tasting Belgian ale, available year round, 6.5% ABV, so low on power, but I like its taste. its a belgian Ale! I will buy this again.

Saranac Pumpkin Ale: This was a great surprise, really liked this one. A good creamy Pumpkin ale, reminds me of Southern Tier Pump-King a little. 6.5% ABV, a little light on the HP but a pleasant surprise. I really like pumpkin ales and I will buy this again.

Sierra Nevada Celebration: My boss gave me this bottle of this seasonal ale. Very highly rated on beeradvocate.com. Very hoppy, kinda like a low HP version of Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, or Victorys Hop rod Ale (its 6.5% ABV). I like it and a six pack resides in my fridge for later consumption.

Tell me what you're drinking tonite...

Fat Tire is alright, I think at the end of the day the appeal is that it is a cheap beer of decent quality.
