Took Concealed Carry Class Today - June 25, 2011, 07:16 PM

Jason the guy who runs it and his wife did an excellent job! She does the paperwork and admin stuff like fingerprinting and he does everything else. He was very thorough and is a cool dude. This was the Livingsocial deal that was recently offered. Was for both VA concealed carry permit and the Utah Non-Resident concealed carry permit.

I wanted to share this video with you all though. It's a voice recording of a 911 home invasion call from a woman in Indiana, a guy had been stalking her for a while and broke into her house while she was there (if this is a repost or you've already seen this video then I do apologize). This happened in 2007. She shot him twice just after he walked into the room after breaking the bedroom door, he tried strangling her when he got to her, then she shoots him one final time. He died. I was completely speechless after listening to it today in class. Arm hairs raised as high as they would go. It really hits you hard. This is exactly why everyone should at least have a home defense weapon to protect their family and themselves from people like this, robbers, crazy people, whatever.

Here is a description of the video from Youtube which you need to read beforehand because it's hard to hear the shots in the recording (shots are heard at 5:24, 5:26, and 5:42). Apparently a friend of this woman's gave her a gun to protect herself the day before this happened or something. Talk about good timing, eh?

"Indiana, November 17, 2007, Woman protects herself during home invasion when police could not get to her home in time.

Some listeners have noted the shots are difficult to hear in this call. There are several reasons. The final shot is hard to hear because the gun was pressed against the attacker, turning the attacker's body into a highly effective suppressor. Also, the recording is naturally picking up layers of distortion over the phone system. Further, the sounds of the door being kicked confuse matters.

To help clarify, Bergner states at 5:33, "What are you trying to do, kill me?", which we know was after some of the shots were fired. The wounded intruder (Bergner) tries to strangle the woman. At 5:43, you can faintly hear the final shot, which is suppressed as explained above. The woman then experiences overwhelming shock, as the struggle with the attacker is over.

To the woman in this audio, I have the highest regard for you and hope that you will not mind us using your story to illustrate the need for responsible gun ownership."

Police are paid to serve, protect, and uphold laws.

It says nothing about the defense of one's life. Therefore that part is up to you.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

I assume the legal part of the class taught you that women can pretty much shoot anyone, anytime.

Unless the law has changed, fear of sexual assault = justifiable lethal force.

I have people ask me sometimes why I like guns and want to carry them. My answer is always the same...

Because I can't fit a cop in my pocket
