Top $$$$: Football vs. Base Ball vs. Basket Ball what sports earn the most? - February 7, 2011, 11:07 AM

In my morning meeting we talk about sports to the non US guys working and one ask: What sport makes the Most money?

I told him it looks like Football do, but I think it's Baseball.

Im trying to figure out what sports division bring in the most cash? Not player salary. (Tiger Woods is the Highest).

But Im thinking that.

1st is Base Ball
2nd is Basket Ball
3rd is Football

I'm pretty sure it's Football at #1, Baseball 2nd, and Basketball 3rd. I'm also willing to bet Nascar would squeeze in between Baseball and Basketball.

Thanks, Heist. This is really relevant to motorcycles.

US, the order is:
- Football
- Baseball
- Basketball
(NASCAR is quickly moving up and make take out Basketball)

Worldwide:
- Soccer
- Football
- Baseball

Top Paid Athletes: (As a team sport n/including individuals sports like Golf, Tennis, etc.):
- Formula One Drivers
- Soccer
- Football

pretty sure baseball is the first (they get paid the earlierst 18+)

Basketball is second.

Football is Third (contract lengths are shorter).

Re-read the question. Not which athletes, which sport.

Number 1

NFL

Overall profit: $984.5 million

We’ve now reached the king of professional sports. According to Forbes.com, the combined operating income of the league’s 32 squads was $984.5 million in 2005. You should also consider that the average NFL team is worth $898 million, which is 212% higher than it was in 1998.
