Good info to have--thanks. Freakin' Colorado is on there twice! Fortunately, I never ride in these places, except for DC. And then, only when I have to.

Also one more reason to never step foot in Houston, Texas, as if there aren't enough already.

Not to many places to hit speeds over 160 in DC except on 295.

I'm surprised DC is listed in the top 10. I don't believe I've ever seen an actual speed trap set up. Cameras, yeah. But the po-po in the district seem preoccupied with issues other than traffic enforcement.

They are definitely hardcore in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Michigan is on twice too!

I'm sure they're counting the cameras in DC. Those things are brutal.

If you go fast enough. The cameras cant take a picture of you.

Same, been driving into DC for 2-3 years now and i cant recall a single speed trap. I guess unless your on one of the main roads they arent going to try and setup speed traps in 35mph zones with so many traffic lights.

Lot's of cameras.

I believe i can see the future;
because everyday i repeat the
same routine.

Plenty of speed traps in DC - just not in the tourist area. I worked and drove around the entire city for 20 years as a news photographer. DC is a lot bigger than most people - even those who work there -- think.

Upper 16th St is famous for radar traps, as is Mich Ave, Missouri Ave, Vermont Ave, NY Ave outbound, Military Rd, Reno Rd, So Dakota Ave, Macarthur Blvd, and so on.

I would think they're including more than just the actual boundaries of the district itself - if DC were like any other city its boundaries would probably spread at least the extent of the metro if not farther.

Mythbusters recap:

Episode 73: Beating the Speed Camera,

Speed camera myths: You can beat a speed camera by..
... driving too fast for the camera
Dodge Neon: busted
Lamborghini Murcielago: busted
... placing over your license plate
Glitter license plate: busted
Lenticular plastic cover: busted
Plastic wrap: busted
Commercial plate blocker spray: busted
Hair spray: busted
... changing lanes rapidly: busted
A bird can set off a speed camera: confirmed

Adam and Jamie went through a stockpile of speed camera myths to try and fool an ATS Axsis SC-300 speed camera. Two things did fool the camera: a falcon was able to set off the camera and Jamie installed a plate flipper that rotated the plate out of view, but neither is a way of actually getting out of a ticket. In fact, many of the devices they tested would easily get you pulled over by a cop with or without speed camera.

Someone beat me to it.

edit: Doesn't matter tho, you're still not beating a speed camera. But if you can, I'll give $5 if you prove it to me.
