Tundra owners? - November 28, 2011, 08:56 AM

I really am considering a Tundra when I buy a truck in spring. I like the look of the 07+.

Wanted to get some feedback from owners. I'm considering trying to find a 5.7. Would prefer a 4wd, but considering we have an AWD vehicle already it's not a dealbreaker if we don't get that.

Any thoughts?

There is a reason the F150 is the best selling truck.

I've owned two, and sold them professionally. I'm perfectly aware of their strengths and weaknesses

On a serious note, Alex are you still happy with the 5.0? Looks like used versions of that are gonna be in my range.

Maybe I can use hypnosis to sway me to avoid a Tundra.

Tundra is ok for home owner use. Mine is a work truck I'd much rather have my Chevy back! Maintenance costs are high. We have 2 of the newer ones they feel like they are big just to be big.

Can you elaborate a bit on the maintenence costs? What specifically has cost you a lot?

Don't waste your time/money with the 2wd version.

My parents had the previous model tundra before trading it in for a diesel ram.
It was a great truck and the smaller V8 then was still a great engine.

The new tundra looks great and I've heard nothing but excellent reviews about the 5.7.
I'd look for a low mileage 'CPO'd model if you can, something that'll get you the extended warranty. If you buy new then you should get free maintenance for 2yr/25k as part of the sale.

looks slick.

I should mention that budgetary limitations preclude buying new.

I am going to look into CPO
