Uganda, DC and you - December 16, 2009, 05:41 PM

instigating.

here's a nice contentious issue- on the cusp of legalized ghey marriage in DC.

personally, i don't care what consenting adults want to do in private, long as it's kept respectable in public. But if i were Ugandan, I could be extradited and go to jail for that opinion, if this passes.

"And under the bill, Uganda would withdraw from any international treaties or protocols that recognize the human rights of gay people."

LOL, who gives a fuck. Good for them, more shit for them to have conflict over, I'm sure they have a bright future...facking African nations

They were going to impose the death penalty but under pressure they relenquished that. The guy who sponsored this is very close to conservative evangelicals figures here and some conservative Republican politicians. Cuz all life's precious unless your a "fag" right? (not using fag to offend but to put emphasis on their thinking).

Sorry gota rant, same peeps who call abortion murder but war and the death penalty are a-ok. Folks wonder why less people going to church every year Rant over, sorry!

Personally, I cool with gay men (so long as they're not being flamboyant and "Queening" it up).

Gay men help thin the competition pool for the pretty ladies, all the while making ladies a little apprehensive about going after that "gorgeous model looking, or very well kept guy" because he may be a twinkle toe - therein making average looking guy like me a more appealing, attractive, and safer option.

Three cheers for gay guys and here's to gay marriage.

It's their country to do with as they see fit. Its strange that about 233 years ago there was a little war because some snobby brittish guy told 13 colonies (an ocean away) what to do. Americans tend to forget the little things like that.....and the 10th Amendment.

It's a modern global community with all nations having the responsibility to protect human interest regardless of borders.

Not to get all propaganda on ya but...

it was also their country, to do with as they see fit

Uganda doesn't have the police force to enforce basic laws like no killing, raping and stealing, whether or not they pass this law is irrelevant, it can't be enforced.

The funny thing is they'll end up spending all their time and resource trying to hunt down homosexuals and take away from efforts to prevent real crimes or develop their shitty country.

"righteous" citizens will also play a part in "enforcing". Might end up turning into a Rwanda situation... "cut the tall trees"

Justin:
Yes, and the global community left Nazi Germany alone until it had violated the borders of a 3rd country by military force. The USA, however, waited until that number quadrupled. There are no parallels between a "Ghey Uganda" and the Nazis. Had they remained happy with Czechoslovakia and the Sudetenland, Austria and the Rheinland, WWII would probably have been something like a civil war and likely gone unchallenged. But, nooooo. Hitler wanted Poland because he saw it as ............oh, nevermind.
Sorry, wrong example for you to use with a history buff

Isn't that how it starts? First you impose crazy ideals on your own people, then you feel your neighbors should get on-board as well whether they like it or not
and it's all down hill from there.

I guess that's why U.S. policy is what it is these days; preemptive strikes etc. get em before they do something stupid.
