UN is basically our pet project - largely funded by us, and organization decisions made my us. It's not some global conspiracy.

In essence, we are 'monitoring' ourselves.

Usually international organizations monitor Presidential elections of a nation for checks and balances. Oh right...only African nations should be monitored during elections. My bad. Carry on.

Although I am not particularly concerned with the UN monitoring on election, I do have an issue with your butthurtedness...

What african nation can you think of that hasn't EARNED a bit of scrutiny and monitoring?

ya, kind of hypocritical for us to go on and on about how this country or that needs UN monitoring of elections and then to scream "how dare you monitor US !!!!" lol..

Pretty much.

In any case, this isn't the first time theyve sent teams like this. Very little to be outraged about, imo.

Maybe they'll file a report about all these voting machines in Ohio that keep trying to change people's votes. LOL

That's a bit like saying that criminals should also get a turn guarding the prison.

Not all countries are created equal, and not all countries should be treated equally. Some countries do need more help and more oversight.

UN is a venue that makes them feel like they have a say, as we do what we want and occasionally give them a little carrot to keep up appearances.

I think we might be overestimating their efficacy as well. They haven't really effective in any moderation previously.

What's good for the Goose is good for the Gander as they say...

Personally, I couldn't care less if the UN wants to come monitor our elections. Hell, it might be a damn good idea! LOL.
