US Generals Given Baffling PowerPoint Explaining Aghanistan Mess - April 29, 2010, 07:35 PM

I bet PA got paid $2MM to put this together. :smh:

Quote:
The PowerPoint slide shown to US commanders shows security, economic and political conditions in Afghanistan. The dark blue arrows represent Afghan National Security Forces with the enemy in red. Other arrows highlight corruption, tribal favouritism and drug trafficking

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

Every year I see an email from the army head haunchos asking to not use ppt slides anymore. Just to go back to the old black and whites.

Still hasn't happened. I want to shoot myself when I have to sit through 350 slides.

Who the hell looks at that and says "This is perfect for a presentation, clear and to the point soo I can be sure my audience will understand what I have to say."

... oh wait... that's right, we're talking about the Army. Ha.

Been happening for decades. I remember someone sporting a "Harvard Graphics" Ranger tab in the 80's.

I went through it...where is Henry? I couldn't find him. I thought he would be linked to coalition support and goat population but nothing.

That slide would be perfect if the point of the presentation is "We're overworked and seriously need some simplification."

Ahhh the death by Powerpoint. The one thing I hated about going to a school. Every class we did was based off of it. When I was a Drill Sergeant I tried to be creative when giving a class to Basic Trainees.

I'm sure I would... Coast Guard Auxiliary members ( note all of which are twice retired 60 - 90 year olds ) put together more meaningful and clear powerpoint presentations than some of the nonsense I've seen. The best are when I end up at the local MCAS for various reasons... talk about death by ppt...

"When we understand that slide, we'll have won the war." - General McCrystal
HAHAHAHA! It's good that he realizes how ridiculous powerpoint really is.

one more thing I won't miss after leaving the Army.
