Use Pepco/BGE? You're Gonna LOVE This. The F*ckery Never Ends - July 11, 2012, 06:14 PM

So all thefolks who were without power for a week and consoling themselves with the thought that the electric bill would at least be 25% lower than normal...

...are gonna get hosed.

I'm charging all of you $2 beause a bike I was selling didn't sell. You're bills will be sent out tomorrow. I expect prompt payment. Every week the bike doesn't sell I'll be sending another bill. Someone needs to cover my expenses even though I have provided no services.

Then again... That's just me.

Ridiculous. They should be giving people rebates after we lost hundreds of dollars in food that went to shit in the fridge/freezer.

This.
I was out of town and when I came home, had to disinfect my fridge and toss away at least $170 in food - $60 of which were some dry aged steaks I had bought for the 4th of July.

That's ridiculous. Dominion just announced that they are lowering our bills unrelated to the power outage.

Get a grip. They lost big money and had to bring in folks to get the shit back online. Id gladly chip in a fucking dollar to help pay for the out of state crews that came in.

Now the infrastructure sux, but to me a buck aient gonna break the bank.

At this stage, the infrastructure has been mostly updated, at least in Pepco's case. It's not really the infrastructure anymore. What we saw recently is the result of infrequent high winds. In the midwest, where I'm from, trees do not grow as tall as they do here because we have many storms per year like what recently went through this area. We have high winds regularly, and these high winds serve as natural tree trimmers and thinners. The winds break weak branches and topple weak trees. Here in this area, especially in Maryland, the wind velocities are comparatively mild most of the time, and trees grow tall and without a strong root base. Then every few years a big wind blows through, breaks a bunch of branches, blows over a bunch of trees, and power lines are ravaged. This is difficult to plan for and prevent, partly because people like the tall trees in this area.

lol yeah really it's only going to be less than a dollar, although it apparently won't be itemized on your bill. It's just an odd allowance and the only one like it allowed in the nation?

I read during the event that Dominion and Pepco each requested an additional 1000 personnel or so, some came from as far as Canada because the mutual aid states were all fubar'd. So dominion has the same bills to pay and have to swallow the cost. .

Edit - didn't they get state / federal emergency funds for it?
