Edit: Actually, it looks like Albo voted to repeal (although his stated reason was that he wanted it expanded to include all drivers).

The no votes were from Abbitt and Griffith.

So dealers balked at the increase in the car sales tax (also, that one came out of left field didn't it? 3 to 4%...for what?)...so now we have to do the legwork? I better see a freakin reduction in "prep" fees right off the top then. Not only that, I bet dealers see less sales because now people can't finance the taxes, so the entry cash "cost" just jumped significantly for new car purchases.

Fuckers...not only that...how come you can't get your sales taxes partially refunded if you sell a car? I mean, the new buyer is paying them on the remaining part...I never understood how they can keep this pyramid scheme going.

The way I read it, the current sales tax and registration fee system remains unchanged. What they have added is a 1% registration fee applicable to cars to be registered in the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority and Hampton Roads Transportation Authority areas, and that fee is not collectible by the dealers. So don't expect anything to change at the dealers.
