VA INSPECTIONS? - April 20, 2007, 12:06 AM

So in less than a month i will be moving to Alexandria from the District. I'm in need of some good recommendations for taking both my bike and truck in for inspections. Both are all tuned up and ready to go. I have no worries about passing however not sure where and who. Thanks for you help!

Shell station on the corner of 395 and King st. (just west of 395). I'm always in and out in 5 minutes for bikes, 10 for car, never any issues or petty BS.

I live right there too, I'm in one of the highrise buildings right next to that station. PM me where you're moving to, we can meet up for some local riding.

let's put it this way... if a FFX County the cop sees you with a bad sticker.. you'll have a nice sheet of carbon copy paper to go along with it.

In VA, they are strict with cars' inspections, kinda so with bikes... Since most people put them on the forks so they are hidden by the fairings, it probably wont get noticed on the road as a primary offense, but if you get pulled over for anything else, they will definintely tack it on as an extra charge, which is at least $50 bucks, probably in the range of $80.

When it costs $12 and 5 minutes of your time at any gas station in VA, there's really no reason not to. This isnt like a MD inspection where they rape you, they literally just check your headlights, signals, brakelights, and brake pad thickness. They usually dont give you trouble over aftermarket bits such as exhaust, inegrated signals, etc.

Tru...I hear ya man!!!

I would rather dish out $12 than $80 with a citation...
