Vector security? - June 15, 2012, 09:21 AM

Wife wants a home security system. Vector has a promotion running and we're considering it. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Boils down to this: when I travel, Amanda has trouble sleeping. There was some shit in her past that I won't go into here, but she doesn't feel secure.

Vector (actually one of their dealers) say they are running a promotion in my neighborhood kinda like cell phone contracts. Sign up for a monitoring contract at 50 bucks a month, and get all the equipment, installs, and warranties for free.

Seems like a good deal. Thoughts?

We have it in my Grandmothers house. Never had an issue that warranted the use of the service (break in or something) but she has on accident hit the page or call for help feature and they have been VERY responsive!!

God Speed Jeff! You'll never be forgotten.

Hmmm. what about ADT? I see that ADT is the preferred company for USAA and carry some discounts with it.

USAA = $25 a month for ADT security

At least that's what we're paying.

I don't remember if there were any installation costs because the previous owner had a security contract with another company.

Never had problems except after I think 6 years the battery back up died and had to be replaced.

Yep ADT with 4 wireless door sensors, glass break monitor, motion sensor, big keypad hidden in kitchen, wireless key dongle to set the alarm from in the car.

We pay $43 a month for 2 yr contract. No issues.

Sneaky note = you can get a smaller amount of wireless door contacts since they are like 80 a pop from ADT and get them from ebay. ADT will sync them up.

I work with a foster agency for rescue dogs.

Operation Paws for Homes

If you are looking for a dog, they have adoption events most weekends. Can always take the GF up and see if she connects with one!
