Verizon Unlimited Data Package - July 5, 2011, 12:00 PM

From what I hear, Verizon is getting rid of the unlimited package on July 7th. The phone I really really want (Samsung Sll) doesn't come out until September. Should I settle with the Charge or Incredible 2 and get unlimited, or wait for the Sll and not worry so much about unlimited data?

What are your thoughts on limited data packages?

limited data packages will rape you. everything on smartphones is data now. of course that all depends on how you use your phone.

you wont have a problem unless you tether with your phone and plan to use it as a modem all the time.. i've never come near using a gb of data in a month... and that was even still with tethering..

I'm lazy.

What if you already have a unlimited Verizon data package plan...will you grandfathered in?

^^^ You "should" be (don't wanna be liable if they change policy)

And to OP... my experience is the exact same as onelowcuban... the most I ever got was 1.9GB and that was with heavy tethering with my laptop. For the most part I easily stay below the 1.2GB range with tethering and under 1GB without tethering. The chances of going over are slim. However, I do enjoy being grandfathered into AT&T's unlimited plan and would fight tooth and nail to keep it like that. On that note, I would get into the unlimited plan now and then get the phone you want in September. BUT...you will most likely have to pay full price for your new phone in Sept because you won't be able to redo the 2yr agreement and get the lower price for the phone merely a couple of months after starting the plan now.

Get any phone and get grandfathered in. You can change later.

I used to have Sprint Data card unlimited back in the day, waited for 4G forever but said fuck it and cancelled. They released 4G data in the area like a couple of months later. FML.

If you are already a verizon customer. Just add the unlimited plan onto whatever phone you have now. That is if you have a smart phone now.

Check out the Casio Commando... it's my first smart hpone but it's pretty sweet.. fast..rootable and water/shockproof. Got if for $120 less on Amazon then VZW store.

As far as data packages.... just a way for them to squeeze more $$$. Most peeps probably aren't using Terabytes of shiz every month but they'll use that boogeyman to rip us off further. Hell if T-Mobile merges with Sprint it'll be what 2 major competitors...good way to monopolize the market and squeeze every penny out of us!

how are you liking that phone Bobby? I was looking into that too.. probably going to get the iphone or whatever expensive phone to upgrade then sell it and buy this casio.. lol.

i like the shockproof waterproof part of it and its overall ruggedness.. i like to beat up my phones.

Charge did look tempting, I might just pick this up soon. I figure I'll be happy with it and that I will forget about the Sll. Only reason I want to pick up the Sll, is because it is 4g and dual processor...sick!

Any thoughts on the Incredible 2 vs. Charge?

Waiting out the Bionic (or whatever they decide to call it) in favor of the Charge. I think I'm on unlimited now, and hope that holds when I go to 4G.
