Video Editing Software suggestions - October 7, 2008, 10:03 AM

Hey folks! so I just got back on the whole recording videos and taking extreme pictures hobbie again (last time was in 2002-2003) so I am kind of out of the loop in what is good out there. I am looking for some good video editing software and wanted to see if anyone could suggest something they use and what features they like or are beneficial to the user. Thank you all!!

I use Adobe products. Easy to transfer projects between programs, good support, plenty of plug-ins. Only downside is the cost, but when you get to that level you got to pay to play

Right now i have CS3 after effects, premiere pro, and photoshop. after effects and premiere are around 800-1000 each i think. havent checked the prices lately, but CS4 is coming out pretty soon if not now.

For PC, if you're looking for something with some more serious editing power and options, look into the AVID editing programs. Before I got my mac I used Avid Express Pro. Was a toned down version for personal use, but still a huge program by most standards, and it was able to do anything I wanted.

Once (or when) you make the jump to mac, Final Cut Pro, Affer Effects, & LiveType should give you more than enough to get everything done. It can get expensive though. If you end up getting a mac shoot me a PM and I may be able to help you with the software.

On the Mac, Final Cut Pro. On the PC, Adobe Premiere. After Effects is one of the best programs out there if you're going to be doing a lot of compositing but otherwise you may want to put that money towards something else.

main goal for right now is edit my football games and cut the background noise as well as any unnecessary footage. In the future I'll take it for snowboarding and also mount it on my bike next season for the rides.
