Voice Mail Advice... - July 30, 2009, 01:32 PM

I am to lazy to do the research on this myself so I just know somebody on this site has already done this and can recommend something, so why reinvent the wheel?

Here's the deal. I have started a carpet inspection and floorcovering consultant business that I am doing on my own evenings & weekends as not to conflict with the company i currently work for. I have my own LLC., Licenses, insurance, computers, etc.

Here's the problem. My present cell phone is a company provided one with all the unlimited stuff. They are aware of my outside venture and are cool about it all, but don't want me using thier cell phone for my side business. I can understand that, but I don't want to be carrying around two cell phones. So...

Does anybody know of a company that will assign you a phone number and a voice mail box? I don't want to sign up for a separate cell phone and not use it much, as inspection requests from the carpet mills and all correspondence is generally done through email. I have checked out a site from E-Voice and I am not sure if they are any good.

Any opinions out there?

Some GSM BlackBerrys allow the use of 2 simcards. Both simcards must be GSM simcards. Gives you a option to switch back and forth on the BlackBerry

I do have a Blackberry Storm but the account is under the company I work for and they have requested I not use their phone for my business, so I am not sure I could add an extra line to this phone

Companys online offer a phone number and a mailbox for a monthly fee.

Have you considering Google Voice? If you just want a number and voice mail it *may* work. I haven't looked too much into it, but may work.

I had never heard of Google Voice. Anybody have a lead or invitation to this? I applied for an invite on Google, but it appears there is a waiting list.

guzz, google voice will totally do what you need.

lets you have your own number.. forwards to any phone you want. when it forwards and you dont pick up, voicemail is for the phone number on google voice only..

lets you do visual voicemail...

lets you call long distance on your work phone, but wont charge anything to your work phone.

very cool
