Warbirds over Washington - May 4, 2015, 04:12 PM

I figure some of you will be interested in this; essentially 2 dozen types of WWII fighter planes and bombers are going to be flying formations 1,000ft above the DC Mall area this Friday starting at Noon.

I've already taken off work and will be out in the river in my kayak watching, and fishing while waiting.

Sweet. I'm off Friday. I think a bike ride to the mall will be in order.

Then again... That's just me.

What's kayak fishing out here like? I started yak-fishing at about 06 in Socal then continued when I moved to Florida. I miss it.

For those that don't want to drive into DC. The flight path will take the 70 aircraft from Clupper and Manassass north between purcivelle and Leesburg where they will take a east course flying over Leesburg to then follow the Potomac river all the way down to DC and the mall flyover. They will be circling over great falls to get the timing down for each flight set.

Enjoy the once in a life time sight. Wish I could 😒

This is awesome! Going to have to sneak down to the mall during lunch then. And bring a real camera this time.

When the space shuttle came through last time, I only have my cell phone and could not get the needed zoom.

Don't forget a filter. You'll be shooting up and into the sun.
