Gaslamp district is overrated, but LOTS of good eats. Also great restaurants in the La Jolla area.

Balboa park, Seaport village.

If you have time, the SD zoo and the SD wild animal park are awesome

And the USS Midway museum.

I lived in San Diego for a while... the Zoo is one of the best in the world, def check it out... but be prepared to walk a lot.

La Jolla is nice, but everything there is pricey...

Check out Mission Beach/ Dog Beach one of the nights- go hang out at a bonfire, bring some beer, listen to the hippies play their guitars and make some friends.

Yes.

It's very easy to get some hippie poon if you bring a guitar or a bongo down there.

I second the San Diego Zoo.

Also check out the Hotel Del Coronado (www.hoteldel.com). "The Sheerwater" restaurant has outdoor seating, excellent chocolate martinis and stone-baked pizza.

The Barefoot Bar & Grill is pretty hoppin' at night with good lookin' people (http://www.paradisepoint.com/barefoo...ill-dining.php). It's a nice outdoor bar/club-ish area with great views, right by the water.

For breakfast, try The Broken Yolk Cafe (http://thebrokenyolkcafe.com/) - but visit their original location at Pacific Beach, not the other two. Their rooftop dining with some mimosas, omelettes and french toast? Mmm...

If you might get a job out there make she to check out all the areas of San Diego so you know where you vibe best.

That city is excellent in that it has the perfect place for whatever your style. La Jolla is ritzy, Mission Beach is paid. Ack surfer style, that island there (Navy base) is all military and proper, downtown is pure clean city, and further East you have the more ghetto and the more rural areas.

It's basically like a mini-LA with just a fraction of the traffic. Word to the wise though, being next to the border comes with some perils.
