I saw this on another board, and was curious how some folks here would respond....


How does one define happiness in their lives?
-career?
-having people that love you?
-having people you love?
-money?
-not giving a sh!t about much?
-a full fridge and a tank of gas ?

What makes you truly happy ?

There are different kinds of happiness.

There's happiness in the moment. I just got back from a ride and the whole time I was revelling in the peacefulness and focus that always goes with riding my bike. Several other things can bring me that happiness like music, handcrafts, and cats.

Then there's the pride and self-respect that requires forethought and hard work. A hard day's work leaves me happy because I'm proud of what I can do. A lifetime of hard work leaves you happy not only because you can respect yourself, but also because normally that much work leaves lot of rewards. Work hard, save your money, you have earned wealth. Buy yourself some of that momentary happiness, hehe! But also revel in a job well-done.

Another kind of happiness can probably be identified when we make others happy. It's an empathetic happiness, but making other people happy definitely feels good and makes me very happy.
