Possibly, but it seems unlikely to mistake a human being for a deer.

And this statement is what condemns the driver and he get's what he deserves for fleeing the scene

"A witness reported seeing a man’s body in the roadway and a vehicle stopped near it. When officers arrived, the vehicle was gone, according to Arlington County Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck."

The stopped vehicle may not have been the one that hit the person. It could have been a witness or just someone that saw the body afterwords.

No one expects a person to be on a stretch of road like that. All around a tragedy for sure.

A thump is a thump. Does a deer thump sound different from a human thump?

Yeah, but if you see a person in the road, that has been hit by a car, you don't believe there is some moral obligation to call for help; or like stick around to see if you can help.

They are just as guilty in my book.

I agree completely. If you hit something that large and do not verify what it was... get off the road.

The man flew 60 ft! That's a long way to go at just a glancing strike.

Plus what kind of sick fuck leaves a human body (dead or alive) laying on the road unattended. (Whether or not they committed the hit and run.)
