When car racing gets ugly - October 19, 2009, 01:28 PM

I know some of you track cars as well... tell me what you think. I suggest watching the whole video though... just to get the whole picture.

P car vs. Vette... it "was" a good race.

I've tracked my cars quite a bit but I've never raced before so I can't comment on what my actions would have been. I can comment on the fact that the P car participated in dirty racing. You don't push someone into the wall just because they are going to pass you. You can close the line but you can't shut the door like that.

BTW - Speed's coverage continues to let race fans down by completely missing the second pass by the Porsche.

That was a great race. I use to go watch these cars race at 12 hours of Sebring every year. Alot of the drivers come over from touring car series and are use to that bang em up/aggressive type of racing.

that was AWESOME! Vette was all over the track, Porsche kept a clean line and took it to the finish. That's racing...sometimes a bump or nudge leads to a crash.

well at the begining of the video, the P car def brake checks the vette before turn 2... never brakes for that turn like that the rest of the video there... and then every time he went around the outside in turn one, he tried to run him off the road. IMO he deserved to get the bump at the end... and was completely fucked up to spin him, especially where he did. there is nothing but wall there.

the vette had to give back the position he took when he passed in the pit out lane.

i really was waiting for the fight to break out in the pits.

I was reading in to the whole event after the video, both racers were like "It was good hard racing. Glad I/he wasnt hurt in the crash"

Both racers are on 2 race probation for their intentional contact.

That was awesome! The P driver just did that at the end because the vette knocked him off his line on the last turn with that bump. HOWEVER, it was still messed up how he pushed him all the way to the wall. I was surprised we didn't kick some German ass for that maneuver!!!

BS.

While maybe he was a bit too rough, it's the passing driver's responsibility to make a clean pass. The Vette didn't have to keep going, he could've checked up. He wasn't "forced" into the wall, he made the choice to put himself in that position.

Yes, he can shut the door. Or should he just pull over and let the higher HP car fly by? That's not racing, that's F1.

And fwiw...that wasn't the only battle on the track. The other one was good too.

Right up the 1 hole.

That was some dirty bullshit; but a very impressive run. Are there any big road races near the DC/ Balt area?
