Awesome. Now you have to worry about charging your umbrella?

Seems like a good way to piss off people around you too by launching rain at them inadvertently.

You could totally aim farts at people with that. They should call it the butthole flute.

I'd spend the rest of my life trying to build an EMP beam and aim it at people walking below if this catches on

I like it....but this ^

I can see some woman stopping to grab something out of her purse leaning over, blowing someones contact out, that person reels back stepping into the street, car swerves to miss them and hits a bus, bus explodes, terror alert level is moved to red, the pentagon think s it's North Korea launching nukes and counter strikes........roll on nuclear winter.

Thanks Dyson, thanks a friggin' lot!!

you would need a good amount of air flow to divert any kind of steady rain. I don't see that little shitass impeller providing enough for a canopy... using it in wind? Good luck. It will also be constantly trying to push itself down, will get tiring to hold real quick. How much noise does the motor make? If it could provide enough thrust, it would need a lot of power. Battery life?

Combine this idea with a heater and you might be onto something. Air coming out of the top would have to be HOT though. It's much easier to push steam than raindrops. Superheated air, boil the water before it gets to you, then gently divert it elsewhere. Would condendse again in no time. As long as you're holding it upright the heat wouldn't be a danger to others... it could definitely be used as a weapon though, which might not be a good thing. Again, the power issue comes into play.

I could see this working as maybe some kind of canopy based on your comments......maybe have a big one for an outdoor area. With that said they should develop it and test it out in places like Seattle and London, where they get steady rainfall. Work the bugs out then work on shrinking it.

lots of ways to misuse the product.. lol

The inventor mentions high winds... As far as hitting other people, that happens anyway from a reg umbrella with runoff. Except this one you cant get your eye poked.

Battery drain for sure. Most the time when i need an umbrella it is a short scoot to my car, or from store to store. I dont think you could stay out in the rain for a looong time with this thing.
