Where to find a trailer? - April 6, 2013, 09:24 PM

I'm trying to find a trailer for my car.
enclosed 8.5 x 16 would be awesome but open is doable.
Anyone have suggestions besides craigslist to look for a used one?

Trailer places often have used inventory

EBay of all places though you might have a drive ahead of you. There are a couple of builders that sell direct on there.

Use caution for Ebay trailers. You may get what you pay for.

By "builder" I mean "well known manufacturer". If you don't read reviews or buy from an established seller then you deserve what you get.

gotcha. Just don't want anyone getting burned by the $1700 6x12.

Don't know about Pro Line in particular, but a lot of low priced trailers have angle iron floor joist (instead of C channel) that are spaced at 24" (not 16) and 5/8 (not 3/4") plywood floors. Also, .024 (.030 is typical by the big names) roof skins are commonly used. Then there is the (lack of) warranty. I've been looking. Since I have no money, I have had time to research
It's the little things that add up. I want something better than what I can build in my garage.
edit- the OP is looking for a car hauler which will be built differently anyway

Well that's easy. A pair of roller skates and a shipping crate and we've achieved that lofty threshold.

Roller blade wheels, thank you!
24 OC angle floor, no undercoat/ paint, warranty?
Yeah, there are upgrade options for it though. Definitely needs 'em.

It is. Truth be told, I tend to over engineer shit. Therefore, stuff I buy I expect to be over engineered too

OP, checked on the Miata forums? Just a thought.

Scca and NASA type of forums are the place to look. Saw all kinds of FS signs this weekend on race shit, including open and enclosed trailers, for the car guys. Scca has a marketplace I believe. Don't know if you have to be a member or not though. I have a membership and could look into it if you need/want.
