Where are the good bars at? - May 15, 2008, 10:19 PM

Looking to get out with some friends that I haven't seen in a while, trying to find one with a patio possibly, bunch of girlies, not some dive for the weekend.

Having a kid now really takes time away and there are a ton of places opened up since my party days of two years ago. Sports bar is good, somewhere in FFx, Sterling, Centreville area.

Thanks.

Check out the Backyard Grill in Chantilly. Quick hop to 28 either direction, big patio, good bartenders, good prices. Not the cheapest, but that's not what brings in the ladies, either. Also check out Carpool in Herndon. I haven't been there in a while though, I don't know how it is but it has a pretty big patio.

Frontpage or Carpool in Arlington. Great places, outdoor seating and I swear that entire area is loaded with hot girls.

Firkin & Hound in South Riding, just off 50 & 606. You can come the back way in off Pleasant Valley & Braddock. Some Irish meals, Bangers & Mash, Shepard's Pie, etc....but they have great burgers, too! Pool table, dart boards & patio. There's a good band playing tonight, The Dolly Sodds. They're also kid friendly, if you want to bring the young 'uns.

I bounce at a place called The Guards in Georgetown Friday and Sat. nights. It's at the corner of M street and 29th.

The food and service SUCKS at Firkin.. but I literally work about 100 yards from this place (Behind the Giant in a sweet construction trailer compound) and it's just too convenient to pass up sometimes. I like The Dolly Sodds, I'll have to head over there and check it out tonight.. The South Riding Inn is better for food and service..

You're entitiled to your opinion, Spin, but personally, we've (my wife and I and various friends) rarely have had an issue with the food there. On the rare instance something isn't right with a dish, they immediately resolve the problem. We've been going there since the day it opened and even had our post wedding reception-reception there just a couple weeks ago and not one person had a bad thing to say about the food or service.

And the service may not be top notch, but it's a restaurant & bar, what do you expect? The bartender's there have always had generous pours...and who doesn't appreciate a generous pour?

The SRI is not bad and is definitely an option.

The Guards is ok..no out door patio, limited seating upstairs..and the downstairs gets PACKED and extremely hot. They also play mostly 70's-80's music..

Sweetwater in Sterling is great for happy hours during the week and they have a nice outdoor patio. Lots of ladies too.
