Where's Dark and other Camera folks when you need them?? - April 13, 2015, 12:28 PM

Alright so I am looking for a nice camera. NOT like I am some major photographer but a nice camera that the wife and I can take good pics when we travel.

I would like one that comes with the remote so we can take good pics of ourselves (I refuse to say selfie) without the need of other individuals.

Something good for night photos and such. Again I am NOT looking for a top dollar camera. I would love to stay under $500 and the lesser the better. I figured I would start here and let things work themselves out.

I would look at the Fuji X30.

Lots of love for both of the Fuji's I own (x100S and XT-1).

The new wifi features are awesome; control your camera remotely, import pictures, etc.

Best of all, it's not much larger than your average point-and-shoot.

Yea, the new x100T has wifi and after using it on the XT-1 it makes me want to sell the X100S and get the T.

Iphone 6!
Wait what?

I've always been a pretty big fan of the Canon Powershot S1xx series and the Panasonic Lumis. I think the LF1 is the latest.

Really clean, crisp dynamic shots approaching the quality of a DLSR from a fairly pocketable point and shoot packaged form factor.

Haven't kept up to find out if they incorporated all the latest WiFi / Bluetooth communication but I would surprised if they haven't by now.

I like my D5100. It has a flippy screen so you can turn it around and see what you're looking at from the front. There are IR sensors on the front and back too so you can hook up a remote and use it.
A lot of modern dslrs have the IR. If you're looking at night stuff, doesn't hurt to have a high-range ISO.
I second the Panasonic Lumixes also, they're great cameras.

That A6000 looks very nice as well. Guess I will have to do some comparisons between the two.
