Who is your ISP? - September 19, 2008, 02:02 PM

I've been using Verizon Broadband DSL for the past three years and I was just told it's no longer available in my area. WTH? Neither is FIOS (well, FIOS was never available where I live so I'm not missing anything there). So, as a person who doesn't have cable and therefore doesn't want to pay $52.99 a month for internet service at home, I'm wondering what my other options are.

Who is YOUR ISP? Does everyone really use either one of two ISPs--Verizon or Comcast? Or am I slow and there really ARE no other options? (less than $50 a month, that is)

Comshit - no choice. I guess if you dont need cable, a wireless aircard from your cell provider could be an option.

Remember if you do get a wireless card through your cell phone provider you will receive the same signal as you cell phone so choose carefully.

Wow, that story is making me terrified of getting Comcast. I can't believe this. It's like 1999 in my place with no internet. I have a Palm Treo that I'm using more and more everyday to check movie times, get directions, check ebay, check email, etc. I can research home listings for clients but it's like torture. Woe is me.

Try calling speakeasy.net
