There's a major flaw in the ads logic though:

America kicks ass. We'll kick anyones and everyones. Even China and Canada.

Well, if you look at history, there is no way US can stay #1. If anything, US status is just a fluke thanks to other countries' wars and lucking into industrial revolution very early and having a ton of free resources.

A 300m country can not go up against a 1.2 billion country if nothing is holding back the 1.2 billion country. And right now, very little is holding back China.

You are underestimating the amount of freedom people have in China. Particularly if you are middle class and live in SEZs, people have more freedom than in the US, esp when it comes to business regulation, etc. Not everyone wants to own a bunch of guns.

The do have some restrictions that suck. These days, they mostly hurt the poor rural populations. People can't just move to another area. 1 child policy is still sort of in place. But both of these things are being relaxed more and more each year, as the urban areas become more equipped to handle the influx and demographics are changing.

If China would stop cheating with their currency and artificially depressing its value, more companies would be trying to sell into China vs. using them as the world's manufacturing and increasingly, agriculture and bio chemical HQ.

But trust, China's chickens will roost at some point. The minute they let the Yuan float and trade it on the open markets (which they do not), watch what happens to their economy.

All countries manipulate their currencies to some extent. China - like every other country - will manipulate their currency as long as it exists.

Also, related bonus question, anyone know why China is not on the silver standard?

Everyone knows country manipulate their currency a bit but China manipulates A LOT.

They're almost as bad as Zimbabwe lopping 10 zeros off their currency to stop inflation.

No, why is China not on the silver standard. Going to presume its because they have no reserves and silver is not mined/found in large quantities in China.
