If you will be working in Herndon, you will get more house for your money in Herndon, Chantilly or Sterling than down in Fairfax and have a shorter commute as well. Fairfax City or the southern parts the Fairfax area of Fairfax County are both nice places, but they will cost a little more and leave you with a longer drive. I lived just west of Fair Oaks and worked in Herndon for many years and that works pretty well.

Ride a mostly stock bike and ride it sanely and the police won't give you much notice. Better yet, add a Givi top box and they will probably ignore you.

The best solution was to convert from a power top to the less prone to breakdown manual top the 318i had... One could still operate one handed quite easily.

OP, there's an interesting breakdown of various stats by county and zip code in the November issue of Washingtonian (writeup of the perpetual VA vs MD vs DC thing)

edit - not too many details on methods though.

I moved to Prince William from Fairfax County. I've found that taxes are cheaper car/house. They actually maintain roads and do it in a timely manor. PW police don't pull people over for dumb shit, much less speed traps as well. They are probably actually busy dealing with real crime in hoodbridge. Works for me, cost of living is cheaper and their is everything you possibly need pretty close by. Traffic can suck sometimes but it's pretty bad any direction you go.

Honestly for as much as I hate FFX cops, it's still think it's one of the best places to live. Yeah, it's a bit expensive and the cops are ticket whores but it's location is A+, it's safe, and if you're going to raise a family the schools are some of the better funded in the country.

Great now you gonna have every MF coming out here. In the last few years I've see way too many out of state plates mostly MD in my area. Guess we'll start seeing more police chases.

Think of it as your tax dollars entertaining you, if nothing else.

Well Martin O'Malley (MD Governor) is welcoming to MD all the fags, illegals, and ultra liberals. So you might have them leaving your state, but upstanding responsible middle class folks like me moving in. Its win-win.
