Does anyone use and like it. I just found out that my "free upgrade" expired on 03-31-07 and they will charge me $85 to get it. I'm already pissed but I wanted to know if it is worth it at all. Thanks for your comments in advance.

+1...definitely stay away from Vista. If thats the route your looking to go...get a MAC.

XP is not yet obsolete....at least not today.

I have used it on a company computer. It is slightly different, but it seems like they just took XP and put it in a "new outfit" and try to make you think it is new and revolutionary. I am sticking to XP for now.

if you have a computer that can support it, and you want cooler visual effects, and if you really are paranoid and want more out-of-the-box security but with the pains of user account control...go for it

Yes they took XP and threw in some OSX (with firefox) feelies.

Historically Spud is dead on. Wait for the first service pack, then you are good to go. This is how MS has rolled with Windows since 95A. With the exception of ME, which was a total pos that no service pack could fix.

i've been using it since it came out...i like it a lot...i suppose it's because i don't really pay attention to all that technical crap...but for my purposes it works fine, i can surf the net watch videos and use my ipod and chat...no issues....the fixes and updates for popular programs are coming out quicker and quicker. I dunno..i just never had an issue with it...oh and i like the side bar thing a lot.

vaboy - its not going to matter much for typical home computing - other than complications playing some games. But the features in Vista don't really justify paying a load of money to upgrade from XP. Otherwise, there's nothing inherently wrong with Vista in the home. In the office, I wouldn't touch it yet - it probably won't work with half the software my company uses anyhow.

Depends upon what you do with your PC... Vista is still cutting edge - not all software packages are compabable with Vista - Itunes comes to mind - don't know if it runs on it yet...

XP is tried and true - if it's working fine for you ... I would stick with it... If you just use internet and word processing and you have to build one... Get vista
