Save your money.

Book was much better.

All the classic horror movie blunders and this is probably the worst movie I have seen with Brad in it.

I can't believe that Rotten Tomatoes is giving it 72% with the new Superman only getting 54%.

I decided to read the book instead...from what I've read so far and the previous I can see that they strayed from how the story is told

E che cazzo!

the book story line will be the sequel, the movie is much more of a prequel to the story line of the book.

I completely disagree with the save your money bit. I saw it the day that it came out, didn't read any reviews beforehand. The one thing that I did read was from Max Brooks (author of WWZ) saying that the movie and the book share only one thing; the title.

From a "let's bash some zombie brains" perspective, the movie wasn't good – not a lot of time zombie-hunting. Looking at it as an Outbreak/Contagion type thriller though it was great. The acting was very good, even the children. The writing and plot were well thought out. The story was very complete and thorough.

I would like to know what you though the "horror movie blunders" were in the movie.

That is one of my wife's favorite movie types. I'm not a big fan of that genre myself but she's watched Outbreak a dozen+ times and has several movies like it, including Contagion. I guess I'll have to take her to see WWZ.

Dangit, I had high hopes for this movie.

Watched a pretty good zombie flick last night. Dance of the Dead. Sounds cheesy but it's pretty funny zombie flick. Had the nerd dude from Grandma's Boy.

I would like to know what you though the "horror movie blunders" were in the movie.
  1. Israel has the forethought to build a wall around their entire population on the intercepted message that they were encountering zombies in another part of the world, yet they haven't figured out that they are drawn to sound or that they don't have people on the wall monitoring the infected person and the resultant agitation from the spontaneous singing that occurs at the processing gate.
    1. You have a country that is this prepared yet they cannot figure this out or that they would even allow that shit to happen at the gate.
  2. 10 second virus evolution is a cheesy fact and if true, cutting off her hand would not have stopped the spread nor would have spitting out the infected blood (i.e. when Brad was first bled on)
  3. Accidentally banging your pipe into ever single stupid thing while trying to navigate the B wing quietly. How many times did the one guy make noise...3 times?
  4. Not turning off your phone while attempting to navigate quietly to the plane for refueling
  5. The doctor capping himself by slipping on the loading dock to the plane
  6. Not being given the code or what biological strains he was supposed to obtain from the B wing
    1. This information would have been helpful to put it mildly prior to getting the the locked door.
  7. You hear something scratching at the elevator to the sub deck of the plane but you open it anyway.
    1. People would be so utterly freaked out that they wouldn't open a door without looking through a peep sight
  8. Brad Pitt going into an unknown area with just a Glock
  9. Driving back into a crowded city when you barely made it out alive to begin with
    1. There are plenty of small town drug stores with albuterol
  10. Helicopters getting close enough and getting taken down by zombies that jump off the top of the wall.
That is kind of my short list to start.

Didn't read the book but I was basing it on the fact that the people I was with had and that was their commentary.

Figured the movie stunk it up enough that it wasn't a reach.

Disagree.
Won't win any oscars but got right into the action and is more suspense/thirller as opposed to zombie slasher. Solid summer entertainment

Didn't read the book and don't care how 'true' to the story line it is.

Nitpicking with 20/20 hindsight is easy. During the zombie apocalypse mistakes will be made...thus making it more realistic

Zombie dude in the lab with the bird shriek wins method actor of the month

Definitely better than some guy flying around in tights and a cape lol

and +1 to Brad's dreamy good looks
