WTH is going on in Chicago? - January 31, 2013, 07:06 AM

42 murders in 31 days and the last one was a girl who sang at Obama's swearing in. Of course they want to ban more guns now but really what is happening in that town? What is causing people to want to kill so much?

Of other alpha cities, Chicago is the most violent in the world... Beating even places like Mexico city

Another gun free utopia that ignores the societal cancer at the root of the violence

What do you think is going on in Chicago? The police gang infiltration/task force was disbanded right after the new mayor came in because of PC reasons. A lot of new restraints/regulations were placed on CPD, Lake, Cook, and other County police (cousin is a CPD narcotics detective), there was some ruling from the Illinois courts which prevents or limits the police from targeting high crime areas for patrols etc. There has been an something like a 10,000% increase in the amount of drug traffic and the drug task force office has been cut by 60%.

There is really high unemployment, the police have been told hands off, and hence the zoo has run amuck. What do you expect?

All you are seeing is the start of Detroit part II

If you lived in or around DC in the 80's and 90's when Marion Barry was president then you would see how close it looks to Chicago today.

I remember those days. Dc has turned things around, but not concentrating on more gun control. They tried though. I just cannot believe that just more gun control is the cure all.

What is more interesting is how Chicago had 500 murders and no one was calling for more gun control until the school shooting. When are people going to understand it is society that needs to change. We need to do a better job at teaching our kids. We need them to use words instead of violence to solve their problems.

Well, if you tell 1000 people that "Guns are Bad" they will agree. If you tell those same people that they need to set a better example for kids and teach them to respect others....I'm betting more than a few will give you the finger and tell you to mind your own business.

"Simple" solutions for complex problems just don't work. Nobody wants to believe that they are the problem (Lack of respect for others).

America is addicted to the idea of quick fix programs and initiatives to relieve the symptoms of our society.

"Fix-all" programs get votes. Votes are all a politician cares about. Results are subjective so it doesn't really matter if it works or not.

Sad statistics indeed.

If you are a black male between 18-24, you are 6X more likely to be murdered.

It's because of racism

That's what I am told.

The 2nd Amendment can no longer be tolerated because of the impact on young black males.

Interesting...and we need more laws to protect them.

I guess when the Black Panthers were more prominent, more gun control was a good thing...albeit a racist thing. Now that young black men can purchase and obtain firearms legally or illegally, that is racist too?

Gun control is racist if you're a black man who wants a gun. Otherwise, lack of gun control is racist.

Or something

People have abandoned God and are given over to a relativistic moral framework, but relativism in a world of absolutes fails in spectacular ways.

I've said it before...no one gives a shit unless it's white people shot. Or a white guy shooting a minority. Minorities blasting eachother on a daily basis...not a peep from the MSM. You'd think the "liberal" media would be all over it..the plight of young black men murdering eachother pretty much every day all year but no. The medias not liberal, it's just flat out retarded and sensationalistic.

The politicians will just say "poverty!", but no facks will given.

Think B said something earlier to the effect that it's too much work for these dbag politicians to figure out the social/economic problems that cause this shit, so they just ban guns and feel like they've done something.

Like putting neosporin on gangrene.

More like genocide.
What you are all witnessing is 3-generations of black Chicago gangs and gang families reaching full maturity.

The two main alliances fly under the banner of either the Folk Nation or the People Nation Sets.

For the uninitiated, as an analogy, imagine the Folk and People Sets as the NFC and AFC Conference. Under each division you have several independent gangs and much like the NFC and AFC has its anchor and legacy football teams, the Folk has and People have the same. Vicelords and Latin Kings are the banner teams under the People's Set. Black Gangster Disciples and Gangster Disciples (the ones that most likely tried to kill Rick Ross the other day as he drove his Rolls Royce through Ft. Lauderdale).

After this you have 10-15 smaller gangs on each side, young up and comers who are trying to establish credibility and primarily are the ones engaged in some of the most violent, senseless and public killings.

Like many things that are contained and largely out of sight, out of mind - the public at large was not overly concerned about the violence because it was mostly contained to the Cabrini Green Projects (Remember the show Good Times, that was set in Cabrini) and the South Side of Chicago.

However, when Cabrini was finally leveled about a decade ago the roaches scattered and carried their pestilence throughout Chicago. Combine this with two generations of parents who were either not involved as parents or gang affiliated themselves, and it the result is what we have been witnessing in Chicago the last 5 years; an ever increasing feedback loop of violence.

Sadly, I have seen this scenario twice before. Once first hand, in the 80's in Brooklyn and then in the 90's in Compton. When the infestation gets this bad - when the elected officials let it get things get this far out of control or rather turned their heads and did the minimum to abate because it was in a meaningless district as it relates to economic and voting power, the corrective action is pendulum swinging in the other direction - HARD.

The Mayor, Judges, and Prosecutors office collude and agree to look in the direction while the Police take a "Zero Tolerance" approach and roll in CRASH and Gang Unit Teams.

All too frequently this leads to Stop and Frisk, Detentions, Block Sweeps, and head cracking of bad and good citizens alike who only by circumstance are at the wrong place at the wrong time or cannot financially afford to move to more civil neighborhoods.

Innocent men end up traveling the thorny path of the legal system or with record which they have to fight like hell to get expunged. Prison populations swell with people who duly deserve the time they get, but another generation is lost to prison and prison culture.

So whether it be at their own hands or the hands of another, what you are witnessing is not racism, but a genocide, and there has been no other race in this country and possibly even the world better at engineering their own self-destruction than the black man.

It fucking sickens me.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

- Nicolo Machiavelli 1469-1527
