Cool Xbox 360 - August 24, 2009, 09:43 PM

My Xbox 360 just crapped out on me, good Ol Red Rings of Death. Anyone looking to sell their Xbox 360, I really just need the console no hard drive. Anyone selling one or know where i can find one for cheap?

They'll still fix it, they'll just charge you. It cost me $100 last year, and I got it back in about 3 weeks. Plus, once they fix it, they'll put a 1 year warranty on it.

I'm on my 6th xbox. PS3 has had no problems so far.

I'd recommend just buying a new one if you must have it. The refurbs suck.

I don't think you're gonna find a replacement for less than the cost of repair, and, what fails is the connectivity between the GPU and the mainboard. All xbox 360's can have that issue.

If you're handy you can fix it yourself. There a clamp that presses the GPU to the mainboard. The force is inadequate. If you increase the force of the clamp, and then "bake" your xbox it will fix the issue for good.

By "bake", either wrap a towel around your xbox and leave it on for 20 minutes, or remove the fans. It will generate heat to the point that it will melt the solder and restore connectivity.

There's loads of information on the web about how to go fix it yourself.

That said, I would still recommend just paying the $100 to have MS do it and get a year's warranty. I've never been very comfortable with letting electronics get that hot myself.

My elite 360 just crapped out last week. I sent it in and been watching the progress online on a daily lol...they just f*** recieved it! I sent it like 8 days ago. I hope they fix it and return it faster than that.

PS3 sucks! This is the first time any xbox I ever owned has ever crapped on me.

The only ps3 game I've seen that I thought might be cool was little big world, or something like that. But I can't justify that much dough for one single game.

I'll wait until the next generation of consoles and pick up the ps3 for $90 or something in a few years.

you should at least call Microsoft and see if they will fix it for you and for how much! It is worth paying $100 if they can fix it. Too bad I didn't see this post yesterday I would have told you about sellout.woot.com, they were selling a New Xbox 360 Pro (60GB) for $230... gone now tho
