03 R6 oil leak - April 15, 2009, 12:11 PM

Hey guys,

my 03 R6 was sitting in garage for awhile im getting it ready for the seaon and i noticed alot of oil crud and buildup around clutch peg and chain area. Havent taken it apart yet but i deff dont want oil slinging on the tire or chain and taking me out. It has about 11k on it. Im going to bring up to my shop at Ford and work on it when the weather is nice, but just thought id shout out to all the R6 owners and see if they have noticed anything like this, it looks like the cover is leaking behind the chain but i guess ill have to randr to pinpoint it. ay input would be appreciated, thanks.
happy riding.

My 04 R6 has almost 9k on it and the only thing I've noticed in that area is just some chain lube, and maybe some black road deposits, nothing as far as oil, but just check your gaskets and see if you can find out if that's whats leaking, if that's the case, its an easy fix, new gasket and some fresh oil & filter, and you're good to go

Have you checked the oil filter?
