2003 R6 wont start... - August 24, 2008, 12:07 PM

I have a 2003 R6 - it has about 1700 miles on it. I just bought it from a guy, it started at his house but now that I have it home - it just cranks. I confirmed it has fuel to the rail by unplugging the quick connect and hitting start button - fuel shoots out - I confirmed it has spark by dumping a little fuel into the velocity stacks, bike started right up and idles the fuel away and shut off.. Any ideas??

Rectifier could be bad. Common problem. Have you tried jump starting it by pushing the bike and popping it into gear?

Your injetors may not be opening. Got a PC? Check the "molex" or plastic connectors to your FI's. Moisture in the connectors could do it too. If you do have a PC, unplug it and put the bike back to stock. If you got spark, and fuel in the rail, it isn't making it to the cylinder for some reason. Let me know, man.

Carnage... I had a 2002 that, as I recall, the rectified went bad on... is there a way to test it? Does anyone know where it is on a 2003?

EvilTwin, I do have a Power Commander, how do I remove it and set things back to stock? Im a NOOB with electronic shit.

Just follow the wires until you get to the plugs, unplug it then plug the factory connectors back into themselves. I don't know where the plug-ins are on an R6.

It's a yamaha, there's your problem

But, I would check the injectors, clogged injectors manifest that way quite often
