Aftermarket BMC air filter question - July 27, 2011, 12:28 PM

So I got an aftermarket BMC air filter for the pimp track 2008 R6 track bike. It came with a removable flow restrictor. It looks like the stock filter on the bike has the flow restrictor installed.

Question: this is going to be used on track only, it has a full exhaust and bazzaz unit. Should I install the flow restrictor or not?

I'll be using the bazzaz with the self-mapping unit to get the map worked out.

Why would you want anything to be restricted??

That's what the question is for, you dope.

I'm assuming we DON'T want the restrictor on there, and just have the bazzaz create the proper map for the higher air intake, but I just wanted to make sure.

No restrictor.

Mine came with one too, Rick told me to leave it out with a full exhaust and PCIII.

I think the restrictor may have to do with racing? Maybe?

Edit - But don't throw it away.

Maybe emissions or noise, too. I dunno, but I do know that I don't want anything 'restricting' airflow!

It lowers the amount of air going in to make the bike run richer...mainly for emissions reasons. You can ditch it and gain a pony or two.

With this bike, definitely the MARRC day. I'd like to try to hit up jersey early august but it will likely be with the old bike since the new one won't be ready by then.

So I have time..

I'll need the "blockoff" plate that's on your exhaust for the time being since I don't have one. Can't be riding around with an open bung hole....no homo.
