Buyers remorse sucks... - March 8, 2010, 03:01 PM

Seasoned riders and upgrade junkies... I need some advice.

My new toy/weapon/lover (2008 R6) needs some parts and I don't want to waste my money, I'm completely new to this: (quality & style please)

-License relocator/undertail that has turn signals still and preferably flashes so a minivan doesn't squish me at a red-light.

-Frame sliders, bar ends, front and rear spools/sliders (in case the minivan still smashes into me)

-Sprockets & Chain (Brands & Sizes) stuff is worn, and I would like to adjust the gearing slightly for street/highway use (won't be going to a track in the near future)

-Something to help deter bike theft if I park the bike somewhere besides my garage overnight. Chains? Locks? Lojack? Alarms? I have no clue.

I appreciate the knowledge!

Site sponsors man, that's why they are there. Support them since they support the site, ya know? Any one of them you call and tell that you saw thier ad on the site will prob be happy to not only get you a good deal on the stuff you crave but also be happy to install it for you. ANY one of them are good places to start.

+1 to Hollywood and keep your bike out of sight. Locks...chains...etc...do nothing for thieves who want your bike. If you're lucky it will slow them down a few seconds.

+2 haha. Nothing will keep them from getting it if they REALLY want to, but ways to deter them. Unless your rocking a limited edition Duc they will move on if you've got some deterrents. They want the easy steal. They aren't that bright, cua they'd have real jobs if they were

Chain up, locking cover, anchor if you having nothing to put the chain thorugh, paging alarm, fork locks......

use the search function on top, tons of info around here

I got mine on ebay, 25 bucks, you can use your stock signals and license plate light.

-Frame sliders, bar ends, front and rear spools/sliders (in case the minivan still smashes into me)

Nylon ones or what ever they call them, dont get the metal ones

-Sprockets & Chain (Brands & Sizes) stuff is worn, and I would like to adjust the gearing slightly for street/highway use (won't be going to a track in the near future)

Check with local shops, they can go tthrough all the options with you (gearing, material)

hope this helps a little. What is up with the remorse anyway?

There are several forums dedicated to the bike specifically. Buying from a local shop especially a site supporting shop is great for keeping our racers sponsored and on the track as well as keeping the local shops in business. The internet can save you money but you don't really know who or what your dealing with until you have a problem.. then as you mentioned comes remorse. RnR is a small shop in comparison to some but they will find you the part you want and usually offer you some guidance as to whether or not its reliable or recommended. Some other shops that have served me well are Coleman's another site sponsor and recently FFX Cycles another shop that sponsors our racers. One part I do recommend you try if you really want serious protection are Race Railz. Buy direct from the guy who makes them by hand...oh yeah he's also a racer. Buy from other site members that sell known to be good equipment.. There is someone (like myself) always selling items just like what you are asking for. Also.. do your homework... google is a wonderful thing.

Haha, OK, so aside from WHERE to get my stuff, there has to be certain things/brands to go with... come guys I know you know, all the bikes I see out with DCSportbikes.net stickers have way cooler shit on them than the stuff I saw in the shop Friday.

Nylon and not metal is good to know, thanks.

The buyers remorse is non existant, but I want to keep it that way. I don't have the kinds of moneys to drop cash change my mind and buy again.

way to dodge the question.

The OP asked where to find items. I told him where I shop. It's pretty rare to find an online store that beats MM or SBTG price's. Plus both of these vendors have excellent customer support. They go above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy. So like I said before, if you know of a cheaper site, that has a good reputation for service, please let me know.
