CHAIN QUESTION - April 21, 2009, 09:21 PM

Hey guys,

I didn't know which section to ask in so I figured this would be the best one. I'm changing my friends stock chain on his 06 gsxr600 and I wanted to know if that chain would fit on my 02 F4i. I am in need of a chain and he is going to give me his stock one if it will fit on my bike. What do you guys think? Will it fit? Thanks again.

Sam Q.

Should, but you need to make sure since there is no room for error. You need to match pitch and length. Pitch on most sportbikes is 525 from the factory. You need to verify if that's what's on yours now and what's coming off the newer bike. This matters because the thickness of the sprockets matches the chain pitch. You also need to know how many links your chain is and how many your friend's is. If his is longer, no problem. Just remove the necessary amount of links. If his is shorter, you're probably screwed.

How's my posting? Please direct all concerns and inquiries to DCSBN's chief content manager, Hollywood, via PM.

Im pretty sure they are the same length (112) but I will have to double check. They are both 525 I know that for a fact. I guess ill just wait and see how things go. Thanks for the info.
