Cheapest and best place to get tires mounted and balanced? - July 11, 2007, 01:41 PM

I did a few searches for this specific question with no luck. If anybody else has any luck please post the link to the thread.

I bought a new set of tires through NESBA but did not get them mounted at the track since I had some life left in the ones I was currently running. I don't have much time left on the current tires and might need to mount the new set before I can get to another track day with the good deals for mounting.

Who is the cheapest in the area for mounting/balancing tires that you did not purchase form them, off the bike? Also if you've had any experience with them I'd like to know also. I'm all about trying to save money but sometimes you get what you pay for so I don't want to take my wheels to some guy that might not do a quality job.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Fairfax Cycles - always - not even worth looking around elsewhere.

I think they charge 25 wheel off and 45 if the wheel is on the bike.

If your in Frederick, goto CAD Cycles in Gaithersburg. I forgot the road its off of but its near old town Gaithersburg off of Rockville Pike (NEar Lake FOrest Mall).

CAD Cycles is no more. It is now RAM Cycles and under new owners. Haven't dealt w/ them, but from what I've read so far the seem decent guys.

I talked to one of the guys that owns RAM cycles and he seemed like a good guy. Don't remember the price on mounting, but it was pretty good. If you bring them the wheels, they will charge the same whether you bought tires from them or not and seemed to have good prices on tires. If you bring them the bike, I think they will charge a little more to mount tires from outside.

Here is their website with address.

Note that the last time I went there, they didn't have a big sign that said RAM Cycles, so I missed it. Look for bikes sitting outside. There is a sign with a Ram's head in the side window, but it's easy to miss.

Bring em over to the house, Charlie. We have a tire changer.

Call me crazy but me and my friends have had good luck at Coleman's (Falls Church) recently. Yes, I said Coleman's. It was hard to say but I said it. They even mounted a tire on my buddy's 50 year-old bike.

FFX Cycles was good to me as well.
