dent repair - cost - April 9, 2010, 07:21 AM

Looking at bike, the only flaw I see is this dent in the tank?

Seller has no info on how it got there, didn't really expect any....

Any thoughts on how to fix/repair or cost? Could get this for a steal.

thanks

I work for a paintless dent removal company and from what I understand most motorcycle tanks are double layered. That being said the PDR method would not work if that is the case. If that tank is not let me know and I'll make something happen for you. Or post car dents .

The problem of that dent is the location. I'd rock a tank back and forget it.

had my tank with about 30hrs of airbrush art dented. shipped it to a guy down in florida and you would never know. my 02 f4i had a single layer tank as do newer ninjas... if its single layer its a cake job (for the pros). this guy cost a pretty penny though.

+1...dunno if they do bikes though. They might be able to massage the dent out reaching from the filler cap though....

I've heard good things about these guys http://www.dentprofessorinc.com/

I agree. New tank is easiest way.

I have heard of people pumping water or air into them to pop dents, but never actually seen some one with the equipment to do it. Not to mention it takes some balls to mess with those types of pressures.

I'll have to find his number again or have Carnage post it up but I had his boy fix 2 small dents, a couple sratches and repaint with decals layed and clear coated for under $250. Did a hell of a job and WAY WAY WAY cheaper then buying a new tank!!!

Might get the answer faster if you just PM Carnage.

God Speed Jeff! You'll never be forgotten.

BOOSTZX3 : in all seriousness head injuries ain't no joke. I've had around 10 concussions and now I ride a Buell Don't let it happen to you!

Nice!

Completely forgot I uploaded the dogs....

On the tank, if I can get the dealer off is horse and come down on price rather than have this bike continue to sit in storage. I agree that the location sucks, and my tank bag will cover it. If it bothers me will just try to get a new tank!
