Disconnect Power Commander? - April 25, 2009, 04:11 AM

I just bought a 2005 R6 and it comes with a power commander. It is running really rich and is getting roughly 35mpg.

I was getting 47 mpg on my 04 R6.

I do not want to spend hundreds on a custom tune. How do I disconnect it and return it back to stock map and mpg capabilities?

Yep, no need to disconnect. You can download a stock R6 map or find one that closely matches your exhaust and air filter.
At worst if you do need to disconnect the power commander just go in between the connections so you would just remove the wires from the power commander leads and then put those 2 wire connectors back together on the bike.

Try RNR Cycles... - April 25, 2009, 07:24 AM

If you want to get the Power Commander set up right, and not cost you a small fortune.. go see Rick at RNR.. he can work some miracles with the Power Commander on the dyno... and it won't cost you an arm and and a leg.. he really smoothed out my 2006 GSXR-600 and he has been dyno tuning for years... if you want to get the most out of the Power Commander.. go see him...

Just a suggestion mind you... the basic maps are pretty good, but if you want the most out of it, go see Rick..

IS your bike mostly stock?

My guess is that there used to be more done to the bike, he/she took that off, left the s/o, and didn't re-tune. I'd see if you could find a tune for your exhaust and see if it fixes the problem... or go see RnR if you have the coin.
